our story

Ubuntu Inclusive Foundation was born out of legacy and love — a deep-rooted commitment to disability advocacy shaped by the personal journeys of its founders, Mxolisi, Ziyanda, and Loyiso. Inspired by an autistic nephew, a deaf aunt, and a long line of advocates, Ubuntu began as a small center serving just one child in Kwa-Thema, South Africa — grounded in the philosophy of Ubuntu: "I am because we are."

That seed was planted in 1999, when the Ubuntu Inclusive Centre in South Africa was founded, spending over 26 years delivering quality healthcare and education to children with disabilities and their families. Today, that same legacy lives on through Ubuntu Inclusive Foundation — a thriving ecosystem supporting over 60 children, multiple communities, and countless families across the region.

What started as a local act of service has expanded globally, bridging Africa and the United States to reimagine what disability inclusion can look like when driven by empathy, sustainability, and innovation. Ubuntu Inclusive Foundation now champions a global vision — one where healthcare innovation, economic empowerment, and disability advocacy work together to create long-term impact. At the heart of this mission is the Moving Every Body Forward initiative: a forward-thinking model that upskills individuals with disabilities, builds career and personal development pipelines, and invests in technologies that support their holistic well-being.

How We Create Change

Our three pillars focus on early childhood development, accredited skills training, and inclusive healthcare — working together to support children with disabilities, strengthen families, and build communities where everyone belongs.

Education

Ubuntu Inclusive Early Childhood Development Centre

The Ubuntu Inclusive ECD Centre is a specialised early childhood development centre for children with severe and profound intellectual and physical disabilities. Founded to ensure that children with disabilities have access to quality education, care, and dignity, the centre provides inclusive learning, therapeutic stimulation, healthcare access, and safe transportation — all under one roof.

Support

Accredited Skills Development & Training

Ubuntu Inclusive Centre is an ETDP SETA–accredited training institution offering nationally recognised qualifications in Early Childhood Development and Inclusive Education (NQF Levels 4 and 5). We upskill ECD practitioners, caregivers, unemployed youth, and community members through accredited training, digital skills, sign language education, and inclusive education capacity building.

Advocacy

Ubuntu Impact Health

Ubuntu Impact Health advances inclusive, accessible, and community-based healthcare for children and youth with disabilities. Our services include primary healthcare, early identification and screening, occupational and speech therapy, and digital health solutions. We also host inclusive clinical research in partnership with the Linda Crnic Institute at the University of Colorado — expanding African representation in global disability research.

OUR MISSION

To create sustainable economic development through training and education, healthcare innovation, and disability advocacy by developing innovative programs, partnerships, and revenue-generating solutions that blend economics and impact.

OUR VISION

Ubuntu Inclusive Foundation aims to expand the vision of disability advocacy, economic empowerment, and health tech innovation globally, bridging Africa and North America to reimagine what disability inclusion pillars, as defined above, can look like when rooted in empathy, sustainability, and innovation.

Our Commitment to Disability Inclusion

Ubuntu Inclusive Foundation’s work is guided by the principles of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). We are committed to advancing accessibility, equity, and inclusion by aligning our programs, partnerships, and innovations with ADA standards and best practices across the Americas.
